Your House is a Onesie

I need you to listen to me.

I know you are forever trying to find the system that works, THE thing that will perfect your schedule, solidify your storage solutions, concrete your meal plan.

If you could just get it right, you will have gotten it right FOR ALL TIME, and you will have won.

This is not the way, House Despot.

It would be like buying a 0-3 month onesie and expecting it to fit your baby when he’s 3-6 months old, then 2 years old, then 5, then 18!

A growing and expanding household will need “a new onesie” about as often as a baby in its first year does.

And the homemaker who understands this will be far happier than the one who feels like a failure every time the household outgrows another onesie or, worse yet, continues trying to jam the household into the outgrown onesie because “I…promise…this…FITS! It fit you yesterday!!! I will MAKE it fit!”

So next time you think you must have been wrong about the shoe cubby organizer you bought, or the new homeschool hack that “solved everything!” for awhile only to fall flat a few months later, remember! Maybe it wasn’t wrong, and maybe it wasn’t failure. Maybe it was growth!

Time to figure out a new way to store the shoes, and time to find a fresh hack that will fit today’s people and today’s schedule.

Time to get new onesie.

  1. Thank you! This was encouraging. I am often over analyzing, looking for that one perfect solution, and wasting precious time instead of just getting something done. 🤦‍♀️
